Oh.My.Gosh.

My back has been killing me all weekend long. Just general achiness and lower back pain. I mostly ignored it, because this is a pretty common occurrence for me and it usually passes with a few days of rest and a few Tylenol. By Sunday it was hurting bad enough for me to mention it to Luis, and for me to make official plans to lie down after church for the duration of the evening. Too bad I didn't make it quite that far.
After church, I came in the house and went to pick up my tiny poodle Leyla (who was given a haircut by me, recently, and who is now irresistably cute) and I felt something go pop! in my back. This was followed immediately by searing pain that shot through most of my body and me grasping desperately to the couch in an attempt to avoid falling and hitting my head on the countertop, and screaming for Andrei to "GO GET DAD!" (who was still making his way in from the car).
By the time Luis made it up the stairs, I was bawling my eyes out uncontrollably from the pain and he had to half carry/ half drag me into the bedroom where I remained in the worst pain of my life for several hours. Seriously. At one point Luis tried to pick up my leg that was hanging off the bed and straighten me out and I stopped breathing and nearly vomited from the pain.
The good news is that by the end of the evening I could, with great assistance, stand and shuffle my way around the house well enough to go to the bathroom. I could also sit up, which helped when applying copious quantities of Icy Hot and an heating pad to the affected area.
After a good night's sleep I was able to walk around pretty freely this morning so I came in to work. It's still hurting like heck, and I can barely stand, but I've been getting progressively better throughout the day. I"m debating if I should bother going in to see someone, because as you may know, I despise and distrust most medical professionals and usually my trips to the medical clinic end up with someone calling me a hypochondriac and me remaining in excruciating pain for weeks on end. Hmmmm... what to do... what to do...

Forget the physician. Go see a chiropractor. Seriously!

Sorry you hurt so bad. Call me if I can help somehow.

Chad says it sounds like you popped a ligament. Doc won't be able to do much for you. No MRI or anything, unless you're having neurological problems (but since you're walking, sounds like not.)Take lots of ibuprofin (unless you have ulcers or something) 800 mg every 8 hours. Back pain sucks. Hope you feel better soon.

WoW, I feel your pain. That happens to me a couple times a year. I too have no faith in medical personell. Every time I go they have no idea what I have done. My only advice is Ice it. Forget the heat. I was told by a friend that heat only makes it last longer. When my back goes out I literally walk around with an ice pack tucked in my waistband all day. Its the only way I can get up off of the couch. Good Luck my dear. Hope it doesn't last long! Did you say it was hurting before? Do you think it has anything to do with hormones? I am starting to draw some conclusions about my back pain and the other mysterious things going on. Hmmmm........
