Vineyard House Photo Party: Part 1

Most of the significant decorating/painting in the house is done now. I'm glad. School is going to be starting in a couple weeks and summer is winding down. I'm sad that summer is almost over, but so pleased with the work that I've been able to accomplish at the house. It's been a solid month of sanding, painting, sewing, sawing, drilling, burying, and watering, watering, watering.
For the next week I'll be posting pictures every day of a room or area of my house. There won't really be any "before" pictures, because there wasn't really anything here before since we just moved in. So I guess these are the "before" pictures for all future makeovers.
I'm starting with the most recent project- the office. I was up late last night putting the finishing touches on the indigo paint, and moving furniture back where it belongs.
I hate painting. So. So. So. Much.
But the results are awesome!

My favorite parts of this room are the sweet thrift shop scores I found for the space: the AMAZING rug I got for $15 at D.I. The Mod desk chair I found at Savers for $12.99. My gigantic $5 birdcage (another D.I. find). The daisy painting was in my grandma's house Fo Evah. When she passed in 2010, none of my aunties or cousins wanted it, so I snatched that baby up like nobody's biz-nass before anyone could change their minds.
I'll probably start changing thing before the paint finishes curing, but for now I LOVE it!

About a million Before and Afters and no pictures?

So I've been wanting to blog some of my projects but I'm sans Internet right now. We don't have anything but our cell phone data plans at home, and my laptop won't connect because of a stupid T-Mobile rip off thing. So I use my iPad for my computing needs but I can't figure out how to post photos so I kind of have my hands tied. Bear with me for a few more weeks. Once I'm back to school it'll be makeover overload. Until then, you can follow my Instagram account for real time updates. My account name is camille_farias. I post photos pretty much every day.

Vintage Images

One of my goals for the new house is to decorate it with more organic or original elements. I really want it to feel more natural and less like a magazine or catalog picture. I may blow my entire savings on this website: www.historicimages.com It's a company that takes original file photos from newspaper companies, scns them, and then sells the originals. Thee are one of a kind, real photos with dates and news paper clippings attached, avg price $30. Here are some of the photos I would LOVE to try and work in to my house: http://pictures.historicimages.net/pictures/_3/2095/2094736.jpg http://pictures.historicimages.net/pictures/348000/347202.jpg http://pictures.historic images.net/pictures/739000/738700.jpg http://pictures.historicimages.net/pictures/533000/532304.jpg http://pictures.historicimages.net/pictures/798000/797705.jpg http://pictures.historicimages.net/pictures/566000/565422.jpg http://pictures.historicimages.net/pictures/768000/767955.jpg I actually have a huge painting of this last one over my bed. Anyway, I could go broke buying vintage photos off of this site. I think it's the coolest thing evah!
