Nice!

So we've been working on Sasha's dress for a while now. She's having a repro. of a San Patrick dress made. If you don't know San Patrick you should check out the website. They're a really awesome design house based out of Spain (they're associated with Pronovias, whom I actually love). The dress is a satin square neck with cap sleeves and a princess line, with a lace overlay and sash. It's stunning. We've been on hold for about a week now, though, waiting for the silk samples to get here so Sasha could make her final selection on the fabric. Well, they were supposed to be here last Tuesday at the latest and didn't get here until Thursday... and Sasha couldn't come in until Friday, so that kind of put us at a disadvantage scheduling wise because it takes about 20 hours to make a dress... often more, and we're cutting it really close.
I ordered the fabric from a wholesale company called Exotic Silks on Friday and just ordered air-mail, but after talking schedules on Saturday realized we needed the fabric by today at the latest.... long story short I called Eduardo at Exotic yesterday and asked if they could upgrade us to overnight and voila! The silk was waiting for me when I got to my store today. How LOVELY! It's just so nice to have things go properly as planned for once. I really love owning my own store, and it's really unbelievably fulfilling to be doing what I love, but a lot of the time it's just a huge headache, and things don't often go according to plan. This is an exception- and a very welcome one I might add.
On a tangent, I would like to add that Sasha is just about my favorite client ever. She really "gets" fashion and has a good eye for design. She also happens to like most of the stuff I do, which is weird because I have bizarre taste in just about everything. It's been A LOT of fun working with her and I'm so excited to be doing her dress.
Here's a picture of the lovely San Patrick gown that we're creating for Sasha.

That's a gorgeous dress. You have to be sure to post pictures of your creation. Ah, I loved wedding dress shopping...for myself or anyone else. I need someone I know to get married so I can go look at all the pretty dresses again. Too bad I'm so old now that there isn't anyone left to be bride. Well, until Kadi gets married (but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that's a couple more years away, at least).
