Today at work I unexpectedly got a wonderful surprise- a $50 check for mentoring a pre-service teacher working on her TESOL credentials. Syrell did her TESOL practicum in my class. She was pretty good. Not quite as dedicated as Sarah last year, but pretty good. She stopped coming in mid April and I haven't heard back from her since she dropped off some books in my class at the end of the month. I certainly had forgotten that cooperating teachers get a stipend, so today's check came out of the blue. Very interesting, since I have decided to spend it on the red...
