Reason Number 429 Why My Job Rocks!
The "theme" for this school year (yes, we have a theme, and yes, it's always kind of lame) is "Ohana." This was the theme last year, as well, but I'm guessing they're recycling it because they already have all the props and such from last year and don't want to waste precious budget money buying stuff to do a new theme. Go fig.
Anyway, here's my home-room class's contribution to the Spirit Week Door-Decorating Contest. It is both awesome, and amazing, seeing as the kids did most of the work, except for the kick ace palm tree I put together (although the kids did figure out how to put the palm sideways to make it look cooler). The other thing that should be noted about this is that it is entirely made out of colored paper, butcher paper, tape, and glue stick. Yup. We pretty much rock.
If we win, we get a doughnut party. Woot!

That is really wonderful, colorful and very cool! I love the 3-D stuff.
Maybe I should know this - but what is Ohana?
Love, Mom
Ohana is the Hawaiian word for family. It is taken out of context of the movie "Lilo and Stitch" in which the character Lilo is quoted as saying "Ohana means family and family means that nobody gets left behind or forgotten." It made a lot more sense last year when we had a vice principal who actually was Hawaiian.
