Baby, Te Quiero

In honor of the 14th, I'm dedicating this post to my dear husband. I feel kind of bad that most of you who read this blog don't know him very well, because he's a really awesome guy. Case in point: Valentine's Day. Saturday we have Andrei so we're celebrating V-Day tomorrow. However, Luis is DJ'ing a gig tomorrow, so it'll be a short celebration. I may not even make it out of bed tomorrow because I feel a cold coming on, and I think this one is going to be a doozy (side note, in the 5 year's we've celebrated V-Day, I have been horribly, horribly ill 4 of them. If I don't start perking up, I may be 5 for 5).
So anyway, Luis and I are just planning on keeping it simple. We're going out to dinner and that's about it. I was, however, totally swept off my feet this evening when he showed up with gold earrings and a dozen roses for me. He was worried he would run out of time tomorrow, so he gave me my gift now. How romantic. It means more to me because that stuff doesn't come naturally to him, and he just does it because he knows I like it. What a guy, right?
I got him an engraved guitar pick that says "Baby, Te Quiero" on it- the title of my favorite sappy, obnoxious Spanish love song. If you've never heard of it, take a listen- but be careful because it'll stick.
So here's to Valentine's Day, sweet husbands, and love (after 7 wonderful years together)!

Cute, Cute, Cute!!

We don't "celebrate" valentine's day. Some years we go all out and do something extra nice for the other, some years we don't do anything. One year we got mexican take out and ate on the livingroom floor while we watched tv which is less than we do on our weekly date nights. We've never done gifts. Brent usually gets me flowers and sometimes I remember to get him a card. One year we did a little something every day for 4 days but that's because we were working a lot and didn't have time to do anything big on the actual day.

This year will be spent with mom. We're going to Griffith Observatory and to the Cheesecake Factory. Maybe I'll get mom some flowers...

Ah, how cute is Luis? We usually make too big a deal out of Valentine's. But, given our current financial situation, we were just hoping to be able to get someone to watch the kids so we could go out dancing (at the lame-o adult stake dance) and/or go out to eat using gift cards we've been squirreling away for a while. But, after a week of looking, I am giving up on trying to find a sitter. Which means, another Valentine's spent at home with no big plans. If we're feeling adventurous we might rent a chick flick and get some take out somewhere. Too bad, too, because we REALLY could've used a night out away from the kids. Oh well.

Hope your cold comes and goes fast and doesn't get you too badly.
