It feels like Fall, finally. The temperature dropped, it's been rainy and drizzly, and my leaves are finally starting to turn. Thank heavens. I love summer, but I was getting tired of sweating all the time.
In honor of the change of month and change of season, I've decided it's time to start decorating for Halloween. After all, it's possibly my favorite holiday (tied with 4th of July). Also, it's yet ANOTHER holiday that I traditionally celebrated that hubby didn't. I think that my lonliness in celebrating such an awesome day drives me to want to go above and beyond in celebrating it.
PLUS, this year I'm thinking of incorporating lots of Dia De Los Muertos stuff, too. Not that hubby ever celebrated DDLM, but it's culturally awesome.
I'm thinking black crepe paper, papel picado, calaveras, tomb stones, and pumpkins carved into skulls. Probably a lot of glitter, too.
Mmmm... I'm starting to get really inspired. Me thinks it's time to take a trip to Robert's.
What's you're Halloween game plan this year?

Halloween rocks! Did you ever make it over to see our "floating" pumpkins last year? Jake plans on going over and above this year with even more floating pumpkins, a Great Hall (from Hogwarts) backdrop, and a cloud of bats. We'll see if I can ever keep the house clean enough for it to truly take shape this year. Also, introduced the kids to "Nightmare Before Christmas" earlier this week. They love it, especially Janie, whose favorite movie of all time is Hocus Pocus. Gotta love the guts in that kid. I'll have to bring the kids over to your place sometime this month so they can get a glimpse of the grandeur that is Halloween at the Farias abode. Now, time to get cracking on costumes.
I love doing dios de los muertos stuff! I always encorporate it into my church lesson inprimary when I'm teaching primary that week, and I love it. Keep waiting for someone to tell me I'm busted, but... yeah, I love halloween! It's the biggest holiday for me right after Christmas. :) OK, I have to say that even though we haven't been offered the contract in Provo, I think we're going to, so... next year we'll have to come up with some great plans for Halloween together! (sorry for all the coments at once - I'm backlogged on my reading!)
Paper mache skeletons are shaping up nicely. I'll post pictures when the place is ready.
@Melissa: I didn't get to see your place last year. I'd love to do some sort of Halloween party this year if you're up for it.
@Natalie: I think that if you moved here we would become some sort of an unstoppable force of awesomeness, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :)
