New Year

Every year for the past 18 years I have had the same New Year's Resolution: to lose weight and get healthy. I have been on pretty much every diet in existence in order to do this, with mixed results (my health and fitness are generally terrible, although I am still about 30-40 pounds lighter than I was in my teens)
My goal this year is to stop dieting (finally) and make some lifestyle changes in order to finally reach my goals. I bought the book "You Are What you Eat" by Gillian McKeith and it really was an eye-opener. I need to eat better. Period. I also need to exercise- every day.
Thus, my goals are twofold: eat better and exercise.
This is going to be difficult for me as I am lazy in nature and get bored easily. I also hate chopping fruits and veg, which is my major reason for not eating them.
My plan is as follows: implement the advice in the "You are What you Eat" book and work out. In order to eat better, I will be maintaining a food journal and will be making weekly shopping lists in order to establish more variety in my diet. I will also be doing nightly food prep for the following day in order to facilitate healthy eating throughout the day.
In order to enable my exercise goals I will be converting my garage into a gym by installing mirrors along the east wall, installing the punching bag that I acquired last year, and installing speakers, a dvd player, and a tv that I have laying around from various ventures. I also purchased several dance videos, as dance is one of the VERY few exercises I actually enjoy doing (as opposed to the millions of exercises that I hate doing, or at best can vaguely endure).
I will be doing weekly weigh-ins and measurements, and I have enlisted my sister Heather to be my long-distance work-out buddy (since she has very similar goals).
Anyway, this is something I've been mulling over for quite some time now and I feel that this is really important for me to follow through with. And, I must admit, I am actually kind of excited.

So impressed! You can do it! My goal this year is pretty much the same, although I know I don't have the discipline to go to quite the same extent as you. :) But I have resolved to workout daily (even got new shoes for it) and to eat better and more regularly. Time to drop this extra "baby" weight (that I can no longer blame on them, since my baby is now 15 months old).

PS--I miss you. Come over and play sometime.

It'll be good for ya! Really!

I, too, hate working out so my "goal" is to not think about it and to just do it. It shouldn't be a chore, it should be an automatic thing.
