Dinner at Great-Grandma Nihart's house. Grandma is looking down in the first picture because she insisted that the photo be "candid." Ha ha ha. BTW the stunning brunette in the picture here is my Mom's older sister Barbara. Can you believe she's in her 60's? Most people can't, because she looks at least 10 years younger than she is. Incidentally, I think she looks more like my mom than my actual mom, and that her girls (my cousins Amy and Heather) look more like my sisters than my actual sisters, but I'll let you be the judge of that.
We had a record-breaking snow storm on Wed. night and ended up with about 5 inches of snow on the lawn. Yikes! What can you do with all of that snow? Built the world's largest snow-penguin. Please note how it's about the same height as Andy boy here. Mom started to stress about the feasability of making such a large snow-creature with Utah's crappy powdery snow. We showed her how Team Farias rolls. (P.S. Team Farias rules!)
This is a plethora of photos from the Thanksgiving Point Dinosaur Museum, which is allegedly the largest Dino museum in the world. It's a blast. They have cool activities for kids like playing in sand and water to demonstrate the process of erosion and building your own life-sized dino out of giant felt and velcro pieces. I especially love the picture of Andrei digging in their excavation room (they have "fossils" buried in a giant sandbox and you have to uncover them). How do you get a tired, hungry, cranky six-year-old who is sick of posing for pictures to smile for the camera? BRIBE THEM!!!! P.S. I am an awesome mom.
Friday (or possibly Sat. I lost track) we went and bought my mama some new cabinets at McCoy's for the bathroom/laundry room they're currently building on to her house in Fresno. She was mentioning to me that she needed to buy the cabinets, and I suggested to her that we go check out all of my usual haunts, since they would probably be cheaper than anything she could find in Cali. Good thing she drove her SUV because I was right. The Lego creation was Andy's and my contribution to the cabinet shopping experience. Being a Utah based company, McCoy's has wised up to the fact that most of their clients have kids so they put in a toy area in the back to keep the little kidlets from destroying their showroom. BRILLIANT. Please note the criss-crossing arches and flying butresses. When Team Farias builds a lego tower, we build it right. The kids pictured on the right here are Andy's cousins (actually 2nd cousins once removed, but who's counting). Whenever they come over they like to play dress-up with my giant bag of costumes (which includes a huge sack of real treasure a.k.a. marbles and fake gold coins). This time they were playing super heros using the Peter Pan/Pirate costumes. I think it was pretty cool and creative, if I do say so myself.
This last picture is of my dog Leyla, whom we affectionately call Leyla Mama. Leyla is a little teeny tiny poodle with a big personality. She only weighs like 7 pounds but she is pretty sure she's an actual human child. I do all of her grooming myself because a. I'm too cheap to pay a professional and b. it's kind of fun. I gave her a haircut last night and as an extra measure of torture dressed her in a trailer-park fabulous outfit. I mean that literally. The shirt actually says "Fabulous" in rhinestones. All that's missing is a pair of short shorts that say "Juicy" on the rear end. Don't think I'm needlessly cruel, though. I took the bow out of her hair as soon as the picture was taken, so now she's sporting a dog mullet. Wait. I think maybe the bow was less cruel. Ha ha. She kills me. Ana saw her this morning dressed up with her new "do" and laughed for about 5 minutes solid. Sweet!
So there you go, because I love you. I wouldn't have put this many pictures up for anyone else. Hope you enjoyed!
