Funeral Plans?

So here's a new one. We had someone try to sell us funeral services this evening. Has this ever happened to anyone before? What's your take on this?
I've had way too much close personal contact with death lately, so it's fresh on my mind. Frankly I think that planning for the end is good, but is it worth taking care of this young in life? The plan we were pitched supposedly is a pay in deal where you amortize the average cost of funerals over the span of 10 years and they guarantee to pay for the services you've requested at that rate forever. Not such a bad deal, but most people don't think about this stuff until their 50's or 60's, right? What have your experiences with funeral arrangements been?
I guess it's good to have this stuff planned out and to let your family know. And things such as burial vs. cremation, burial place, etc. are really good to figure out and communicate to your loved ones. I've always figured that my kids would deal with it when the time came, but that may not be an option for me in the long run. I guess if not now, when is a good time to deal with your own death.
So very, very morbid, but also so necessary.
And for the record, I had no idea until tonight that my husband wants to be cremated. I guess that's good to know. I should probably get that in writing somewhere to deal with the inevitable argument that is going to arise with his family when the time does come. They're burial people and won't be real excited about cremation.
