Today was Ana's Temporary Custody Hearing. This whole thing has been a huge mess- nothing more than a mudslinging contest. Long story short, she got full physical and legal custody of the baby, she's getting the maximum child support, but she has to split some costs (like healthcare and childcare). The big surprise was that the judge ordered her to get a full-time job in the next 30 days (or something like that). Obviously she's not thrilled about this since she'd prefer to stay home with her daughter and continue to try and make her cake rental business work, but I can see where the judge is coming from. Not too many families out there would be willing to support her as long as her family has, and in the long run it's really better for her and the baby if she can learn to stand on her own two feet.
So I guess this is the end of an era. She's told me that as soon as she starts making some money she wants to look for a place of her own.
