Puh-lease!

So we had a bride come in today to pick up her dress and it was so stupid. She tried the dress on Friday night and was concerned that the jacket was to heavy, so she left and came back like 15 minutes later and stood in front of the mirror for almost an hour hemming and hawing trying to decide if she liked it or not, and we offered to correct her issues with it, but she finally decided it was ok.
So she came to get the finished dress today and brought her best friend along with her, who convinced her she hated the jacket and I had to spend an hour talking to her trying to get a straight answer out of her what she wanted me to do. I told her we could arrange to have it altered, that she could get a refund for it, that I could discount it, etc.... and she just kept hemming and hawing and complaining about how the jacket wasn't what she really wanted and how she had picked us specifically because we told her we would make the jacket how she wanted... etc.
Although I sympathize with her and fully take credit for the fact that we had to move her pick-up date from Friday until Wednesay, my issue is this- Jenny spent as much time finishing the jacket she ultimately decided she didn't like as it would have taken her to make a new jacket in the style that she finally admitted she really wanted. She could have been 100% satisfied with her dress and I wouldn't have had to lose almost $200 giving her a 20% discount.
Everybody lost in this situation because of her failure to be honest with us about our work. So here's my advice for the day- if you are hiring a service person to do ANYTHING for you, and you don't like it at any step of the way, let them know. It might come off sounding rude or bossy, etc. but at least you'll get what you want, which is what you're paying them for anyway. Being rude and bossy halfway through is better for you and for them than being disappointed with the results when you're done and having to get a refund or discount. Seriously. Take it from me. I have now had to deal with this several times.
